It’s that time of year again, Driven has come back to town. Until recently Driven had always alternated years on and off here in Winnipeg. However, with the scene growing substantially over the past few years it seems the show will become a yearly event.
It’s safe to say that Driven has been and will continue to be the show for the Winnipeg scene. Prep for the show starts weeks, sometimes months in advance for competitors. Whether it’s last minute parts from local vendors Speed Factor and Option Plus, or that extra coat of wax before roll-in. The cars at Driven always have that extra touch done just for the sake of the show.
This year’s Driven was the largest Winnipeg has seen, with over 300 vehicles in attendance the Red River Exhibition indoor space was pushed to it’s limits and the show expanded outdoors. What started off as a day where everyone was destined for a sun burn, took a turn when mother nature decided it was time to give everyone outside a shower.
The rain wasn’t all bad though, it lead to some great images of the vehicles outside. Not only that, but since the crowd had moved indoors to stay dry most vehicles were unobstructed. Something every photographer longs for at a show this size.
Meanwhile indoors, there were no shortage of things to see between a break dance competition and the models making rounds through the venue.
At the end of the day, the show was a huge success. We hope to see it continue to grow along with the Winnipeg car scene, at this rate a larger venue will be needed sooner than later. The show was only a week ago, but we’re anxiously looking forward to next year’s Driven. As always we’ll be there with cameras in hand.
Finally, before we leave you with our images, we’d like to take a moment to thank the staff, the vendors and sponsors of the show. Without all of you Winnipeg would certainly be missing a one of a kind event that caters to the import enthusiast.
