To say a modded Forte Koup is hard to come by, is an understatement. With parts few and far between, sometimes you have to get a little creative to get what you want. That’s exactly what Brianna has done, with a front lip borrowed from the Mazda3, RallyArmor mudflaps from the WRX, and a custom headlight retrofit from Winnipeg HID, she’s built a car all it’s own.
When the season began, the plans were fairly simple, lowering springs. But! We all know it’s never that simple, as the summer went on, research continued and parts began to show up.
With the car buttoned up, and finished for the season, it was entered into Winnipeg Speedfest where it brought home ‘Best Female Build’. We were ecstatic to see the little Kia go from stock to winning awards in only a single season.
Now that we’re headed towards the end of the season, it’s back into the planning phases to see what’s next for the Koup. Time will tell what happens, but we can’t wait to see what’s next!
If you live in Manitoba, drifting remains primarily an underground sport. That being said, Chris Gonzalez of Gonzo Drift, is doing big things in the hopes of bringing more attention to the Canadian drift scene. Through planning drift days at Gimli Motorsports Park, and drift demos more and more people are getting exposed to the sport, and drivers are given a safe, legal way to get sideways.
Unfortunately, due to some mechanical issues Chris’ S14 only made a short appearance.
But! With other drivers on hand, the Gonzo Drift Demo was still a huge success with the largest turn out to date.
With the chance to ride along, win free stuff, or watch some tandem action there was no shortage of reasons to come check out the event.
It was a great day, and we hope to see the event grow larger next year! It’s great to see that with support from clubs and sponsors the drift scene continues to flourish.
Every year, the town of Kenora puts on a street festival over the August long weekend. On the Sunday they open up the sidewalk running along the water’s edge for a car show. With a great forecast for the weekend we decided to head out to participate and cover the show! In previous years Harbourfest, like many shows around our part of Canada, is dominated by the classics. However, with groups from LowMotive, Vicious Alliance, and Top Tier Imports making the trip this year has been, by far, the largest showing of imports at Harbourfest.
With a little bit of everything at the show we were supplied with plenty of opportunities to photograph.
However, with a record number of cars at this years show, it was a tight fit to get everyone by the waterfront!
Unique color on a unique car, can’t say we see many Tiburon’s getting special treatment
If the Tiburon wasn’t rare enough, how about a female owned and Kia Koup, our very own Brianna has put in plenty of work over the season. We can’t wait to get her full feature up on the blog!
Top Tier Imports had no shortage of cars at the show with a group of 40+ making the drive out to Kenora.
Take a minute and cruise through the gallery to check out all the incredible cars that came out to Kenora!
